Tourist Pain IndexTRINITY EXCLUSIVE
EXCLUSIVE — Aggregate net unrealized profit and loss of Tourist holders in US dollars. It measures the depth of latent pain carried by late buyers ; the deepest troughs of unrealized loss have historically coincided with cycle bottoms, while a return above zero shows tourists moving back into profit.
Trinity exclusive model
This metric is a proprietary Trinity Insights model. Its formula, inputs, weights and parameters are NOT disclosed. The page documents only the output (bounded scale, interpretation zones, historical context). Access to the score and its time series is via the REST API and the MCP server, subject to the required tier.
What is it?
This index aggregates the unrealized profit or loss of all Tourist holders, expressed in dollars. Because Tourists entered above the market's average cost, they tip into unrealized loss as soon as price pulls back. The size of that loss measures the pain carried by late buyers at any moment.
How to read
Below zero, Tourists are collectively in unrealized loss: the deeper the curve plunges, the deeper the pain. A return above zero shows Tourists moving back into profit, typical of recoveries. The BTC price overlay helps relate pain to market moves.
Key zones
Deepest troughs of unrealized loss: maximum pain, historically associated with capitulations and cycle bottoms. Around zero: balance. Above zero: Tourists in profit, established-uptrend conditions.
What to observe
Watch the depth and duration of below-zero phases: extreme pain that starts to recover indicates Tourist loss pressure exhausting. Pain that worsens despite stable price reveals latent fragility under the surface.
Historical context
At major cycle bottoms, the aggregate unrealized loss of late entrants reached its absolute extremes, marking the point of maximum pain before durable recoveries.
Expert notes
⚠️ Trinity Exclusive Model — The pain here is unrealized: it only becomes an actual loss if Tourists sell. The scale is linear because the value can be negative. Pair this index with the capitulation tracker to distinguish felt pain (unrealized) from acted pain (realized).
Common mistakes to avoid
A record unrealized loss does not guarantee an immediate bottom — pain can deepen before it resolves. And unrealized pain is never realized as long as coins do not move.
