EDCD, Education-Driven Chart Design
EDCD is the Trinity internal protocol that requires every metric's educational contract to be written before implementation : a promise, visual primitives, and interpretive zones. A chart that fails to deliver on the promise is rejected.
The reciprocal contract
A reader who only reads the education must be able to anticipate what they will see. A reader who only sees the chart must be able to anticipate what the education describes. Any promise without a primitive = violation.
The six educational sections
- whatIsIt, definition + formula at an audience-appropriate level.
- howToRead, reading guide (axes, legends, zones).
- keyZones, significant thresholds with atemporal interpretation.
- whatToObserve, patterns and observations to watch.
- historicalContext, references to notable historical events.
- commonMisinterpretations, common pitfalls to avoid.
