FUD Resilience Index (Trinity)TRINITY EXCLUSIVE

Trinity-exclusive gauge weighing the tone of crypto news coverage against the intensity of crisis coverage, centred on 50. Above 50, the press stays constructive despite the crisis flow; below 50, the narrative is fragile.

Trinity exclusive model

This metric is a proprietary Trinity Insights model. Its formula, inputs, weights and parameters are NOT disclosed. The page documents only the output (bounded scale, interpretation zones, historical context). Access to the score and its time series is via the REST API and the MCP server, subject to the required tier.

What is it?

The index sets two readings of the crypto press against each other: the tone of coverage (#34) and the intensity of crisis coverage (#36). When tone holds while crisis coverage rises, the market narrative is resilient; when both deteriorate together, the narrative is fragile. The gauge is centred on 50 and bounded between 40 and 60: above 50, the press stays constructive despite the crisis flow; below 50, the narrative is febrile. This is a Trinity Exclusive model, whose construction is not published. The inputs are the GDELT series of charts #34 and #36, with the same files and the same reliability rules (days below 75% of files discarded, periods of incomplete or missing publication absent: October-November 2020, August 2021, 15 June to 1 July 2025).

How to read

A single curve bounded between 40 and 60, centred on 50. The ordinary regime occupies the 44 to 55 band; the coloured zones mark the extremes, 40-45 for the fragile narrative and 55-60 for the resilient one. The floor at 40 was reached 16% of the time and the ceiling at 60 only 4% of the time, so the low extreme is far more common than the high one. The historical median is 49.7.

Key zones

Catalogue zones: 40-45, fragile narrative; 55-60, resilient narrative. The extremes are the most informative moments. The floor at 40 was reached notably at the December 2017 top (monthly median 40), then during Terra/Luna in May 2022 and FTX in November 2022 (medians of 40 in both cases). The ceiling at 60 appears around January 2024, during the spot ETF sequence (window median 54.9, maximum 60 on 2024-01-07). Annual medians range between 43.1 (2026) and 56.4 (2023).

What to observe

Watch the gauge leave its ordinary band. A move below 45 tells of a press combining a degraded tone with heavy crisis coverage; a move above 55, the opposite. The floor reached at the December 2017 top is the most useful counter-example: a narrative can be fragile at the very moment prices are highest. Conversely, the ceiling of January 2024 accompanies a phase of product approvals. The index qualifies a press mood; it does not date a turn.

Historical context

Across the whole history, the index spent most of its time between 44 and 55, with rare and informative excursions. The floor at 40 appears from the earliest years (first occurrence on 2015-05-30) and returns during the major stress episodes: median 40 in December 2017, in May 2022 (Terra/Luna) and in November 2022 (FTX). The ceiling at 60 is far rarer (4% of the time): it marks phases where the press stays positive despite a heavy crisis flow, as around the spot ETF approval in January 2024 (maximum 60 on 2024-01-07).

Expert notes

⚠️ Trinity Exclusive Model: the construction of the index (the two readings set against each other and how they are treated) is not published. Use it as a phase gauge: a floor is not an exit trigger and a ceiling is not an entry trigger. To locate a cycle phase, combine several layers: on-chain (MVRV Z-score), institutional (SEC Conviction Index) and retail (Cycle Peak Predictor).

Common mistakes to avoid

Floor at 40 = cycle top ❌. The floor was reached at the December 2017 top, but also during Terra/Luna and FTX, two bottoms: it is not a top or bottom indicator. An extreme is not a moment to act: the gauge is bounded and can stay at the floor for weeks. And a low reading does not mean the market is about to fall: it says the tone of coverage is weak relative to the intensity of crisis coverage at that moment.
