Crypto Audience Geo-Heatmap (YouTube)
World map of YouTube crypto channels audience by country (250 countries aggregated across 90 channels). Shows retail rotation : US dominant 2017-2021, India + Korea rising 2023-2026.
What is it?
YouTube publishes an audience-by-country breakdown for some channels. This map aggregates those breakdowns across the basket to show where crypto video audiences sit. Colour intensity is the share of the aggregated audience held by each country. Read it as a concentration measure rather than a census: only part of the basket exposes country data, so the map covers the countries that reporting reaches, and it leans heavily towards English-speaking markets. It complements the Wikipedia multi-language read with a different lens, video consumption rather than text.
How to read
A choropleth of the latest reading. A country's shade is its share of the aggregated audience; hover for the exact figure. The first thing to read is the spread: when one country holds most of the colour, attention is concentrated in a single market and the narrative travels with it. A flatter map means attention is spread across several markets. Countries left uncoloured are those the breakdown does not reach, which is not the same as an audience of zero.
Key zones
What matters is the shape of the distribution, not any single figure. A leading country above roughly two thirds of the aggregate means attention rests on one market. Between a third and two thirds means a dominant market with real competition behind it. Below a third means genuinely distributed attention. Because the coverage is partial, compare the shape over time rather than reading any country's percentage as its true weight in the world.
What to observe
Watch the leading country's share and whether a second market starts to close the gap: a narrative carried by one country is more fragile than one carried by several. Watch also for countries appearing in or disappearing from the breakdown, which usually says more about which channels are reporting than about the audience itself. Treat any single reading as one observation, not a trend.
Historical context
This map is built from the country breakdowns YouTube publishes at the time of reading, and Trinity keeps them from the moment this metric went live. It therefore carries no long history yet, and no claim is made here about how national shares moved across past cycles: that history would have to be measured, and it has not been. What the map does establish, reading after reading, is how concentrated crypto video attention is at a given moment.
Expert notes
The decisive limit is coverage, not latency: only channels that expose an audience-by-country breakdown contribute, so the aggregate is a weighted sum over that reporting subset rather than over the whole basket. This biases the map towards markets where reporting channels are concentrated, and it means an absent country is an absence of reporting, never a measured zero. Cross-reading with the Wikipedia multi-language metric, which has a different and wider coverage, is the practical way to tell the two apart.
Common mistakes to avoid
Country share is not country investment. It is AUDIENCE share: who watches, not who holds. A market can watch a great deal while deploying little capital, and the reverse. The second mistake is reading an uncoloured country as an absence of interest, when it is an absence of reporting. Use the map to see where crypto video attention sits, never to infer who owns the most Bitcoin.
