Top 90 Crypto Channels by Subscribers (YouTube)
Snapshot ranking of the 90 largest crypto YouTube channels by subscriber count. Concentration of subscriber base reveals which creators dominate retail mindshare. Daily snapshots accumulate to track velocity over time.
What is it?
Cumulative subscribers grow slowly ; subscriber VELOCITY (net adds per week) spikes during onboarding waves. This histogram tracks weekly subscriber net-adds across the 90-channel basket. Positive bars = net audience growing. Negative bars = mass unsubscribe (rare, only happens during scandal / channel-specific issues). Velocity spikes precede TVL spikes — retail subscribes BEFORE depositing capital.
How to read
Histogram : weekly bars, positive (green) = net subs added, negative (red) = net subs lost. Zero line = stable audience. Spikes > 500K weekly net-adds = onboarding wave underway. Bars near zero for 6+ months = retail dormancy, often coincides with mid-bear / accumulation phases.
Key zones
Bear floor : 50K-200K net adds/week (organic baseline). Bull mid : 300K-1M/week. Late-cycle FOMO : > 1.5M/week. Negative weeks : rare, indicates channel-level event (creator scandal, demonetization wave). Zero zone for 12+ consecutive weeks = full retail hibernation.
What to observe
Velocity spikes leading price by 4-8 weeks = classic FOMO setup. Sustained velocity > 1M/week for 8+ weeks = mass onboarding underway, usually precedes top by 3-6 months. Sudden velocity collapse without price collapse = attention rotating elsewhere (other tech narratives, NFT, etc.).
Historical context
Q1 2021 velocity peaked around 3.5M net adds/week across the basket — the largest onboarding wave in crypto YouTube history. Q4 2021 a second wave around 2.8M/week. Mid-2022 collapsed to ~150K/week during Terra crash. Late 2023 / early 2024 wave around 800K-1.2M/week with ETF approval acceleration.
Expert notes
YouTube data provides daily granularity post-2022, monthly pre-2022. The aggregate is summed across all 90 channels. The most predictive feature is the DERIVATIVE of velocity — when velocity itself starts accelerating, that's the early-phase onboarding indication. Trinity will add a velocity-of-velocity overlay in future Trinity Exclusive composites (TBMI candidate).
Common mistakes to avoid
Subscriber adds = active engagement ❌. Subscribers are passive followers ; views and watch-time are the active metrics. A 1M-subscriber surge can have low watch-time (drive-by subs from a viral clip). Pair velocity with view-to-sub ratio (narrative-yt-view-to-sub-ratio) for active engagement validation.
