Dormancy Regime DivergenceTRINITY EXCLUSIVE

EXCLUSIVE - Puts divergences between network activity metrics and price action side by side. The indicator shows when network activity and price move apart; it does not establish that a regime change will follow.

Trinity exclusive model

This metric is a proprietary Trinity Insights model. Its formula, inputs, weights and parameters are NOT disclosed. The page documents only the output (bounded scale, interpretation zones, historical context). Access to the score and its time series is via the REST API and the MCP server, subject to the required tier.

What is it?

Dormancy Regime Divergence is a Trinity-exclusive metric that compares two regimes: the dormancy regime, measured by Dormancy Flow (old-coin activity contextualised by market cap), and the valuation regime, measured by MVRV. The comparison follows an unpublished proprietary construction. Their divergence places old-coin activity in the context of valuation; it determines neither how nor when that gap will resolve.

How to read

The indicator oscillates around zero. High positive values describe a dormancy regime that is relatively higher than the valuation regime at the same moment. High negative values describe the opposite configuration: a valuation that is relatively higher than old-coin activity. Both regimes are compared on the same date; the reading carries no time lead and announces no price reaction. Sign changes mark a switch between these two configurations.

Key zones

The +2 and -2 levels and the neutral band between -0.5 and +0.5 are reading guides drawn on the chart. Their frequency is not measured by the indicator: they help place a reading, not qualify it as exceptional.

What to observe

Tell apart divergences that last from those holding only a few days; duration is a reading guide, and the indicator does not assess its weight. Watch particularly for prolonged negative divergences in bull markets: the valuation regime then sits above the dormancy regime. The reading places the two regimes relative to each other; it does not measure how many coins move.

Historical context

The metric covers several Bitcoin cycles. Prolonged episodes of either sign can be read directly on the chart: they describe observed configurations between old-coin activity and valuation, not an ability to anticipate price.

Expert notes

⚠️ Trinity Exclusive Model - No published reference. Its construction is proprietary and not published. The reading is symmetric around zero by construction; directional interpretation requires macro context (cycle phase, liquidity regime).

Common mistakes to avoid

This metric does not predict price direction but identifies decouplings between on-chain activity and price. A decoupling can resolve through a price movement OR through a change in on-chain behaviour - the resolution direction is not determined. It is an alert indication, not a directional indication.
