URPD Realized Value per Cohort
Realized Value stacked by STH and LTH cohorts at the same price buckets, revealing rotation of cost basis between short and long-term holders.
What is it?
This chart overlays in stacked-area the STH and LTH realized-value distributions per price bucket. For each bucket, the bar is split into two segments: the bottom (LTH) shows conviction capital at that price level, the top (STH) shows recent stacked capital. The sum of both per bucket equals the total distribution (urpd-realized-value).
How to read
Axes identical to urpd-realized-value (X = USD log price, Y = compact USD realized value) but with two stacked series (LTH blue conviction, STH orange hot money palette). The LTH vs STH proportion per bucket indicates the type of capital residing there. Near-pure-LTH buckets are historical. Near-pure-STH buckets are recent. The Trinity rendering stacks two panels: BTC price on top (log scale + date marker), stacked histogram on bottom with cohort-colored bars (dedicated blue/orange palette for LTH/STH or spectral age palette depending on mode), `% cumulative` line on the inner right axis, vertical spot marker on the X axis, and an on-canvas statistics panel.
Key zones
High STH-dominant zones = fragile recent inflow (capitulation risk). Low LTH-dominant zones = strong structural anchors. Mixed zones near spot = active transitions between cohorts (typical mid-cycle). A fast flip from LTH-dominant to STH-dominant reflects a distribution from conviction holders to new entrants.
What to observe
Three key patterns: (1) Appearance of a dense STH band on previously LTH-dominated buckets = speculative inflow above the historical anchor. (2) Erosion of the STH band on high buckets = gradual hot money capitulation. (3) LTH band extending to new high buckets = STH → LTH transfer of recent acquisitions that crossed the 155d mark. To explore this chart in institutional mode : the default **Minimal** mode maximises data legibility (compact stats + period presets 1D/7D/1M/3M/6M/1Y/Now + precise date picker). The **⚙️ Expert** button reveals advanced tools : **🎯 Highlight profit** toggle (dims loss BTC to emphasise the support profit zone), **🔍 Hide outliers** toggle (hides the top 1% extreme spikes to zoom on the main distribution), and the clickable historical events bar with badges (▲ cycle tops, ▼ bottoms, ⚡ macro shocks). The **📊 Compare** button opens a second date picker and renders a delta summary card between the 2 snapshots (supply change, profit zone, top accumulation and top distribution per price bucket). The **📥 Export** button offers PNG (all tiers, with trinityinsights.io watermark + logo + copyright) and CSV (Performance+ only, with traceability metadata : slug, date, spot, mode, locale, generation timestamp). Keyboard shortcuts : A/D navigate dates, W/S toggle BTC↔USD, 1-7 select presets, R returns to latest snapshot, ? opens full help. The X axis carries the **acquisition price (USD)** and the inner right line shows the **% BTC cumulative** (cumulative share of BTC below each price level). The URL retains full state for sharing (`?date=YYYY-MM-DD&w=BTC|USD&expert=1&compare=YYYY-MM-DD`).
Historical context
At each cycle, the STH band grows quickly during the bullish phase, then erodes in the bear market. The LTH band thickens slowly through cumulative accumulation, inheriting STH cohorts that crossed the 155d threshold. The stacked histogram visually reveals the maturation of each cycle.
Expert notes
This stacked view reveals what URPD Realized Value aggregates: the cohort-by-cohort composition. When the total stays stable but the composition flips, the market is in internal rotation — an important pattern often invisible on the total alone.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not confuse band thickness with guaranteed conviction: a thick LTH band at a level does not prevent systemic capitulation. The STH band is not necessarily speculative — some STH inflows come from institutionals in initial accumulation that will flip to LTH within months.
