Flight to Privacy IndexTRINITY EXCLUSIVE
Proprietary composite detecting surges in privacy-seeking behavior: Liquid peg-in spikes, Tor node growth acceleration, and capacity shifts toward privacy layers. Elevated readings have coincided with periods of regulatory uncertainty.
Trinity exclusive model
This metric is a proprietary Trinity Insights model. Its formula, inputs, weights and parameters are NOT disclosed. The page documents only the output (bounded scale, interpretation zones, historical context). Access to the score and its time series is via the REST API and the MCP server, subject to the required tier.
What is it?
When Bitcoin ecosystem participants actively seek more privacy, it manifests in multiple ways: inflows to Liquid, migration to Tor, estimated private channel capacity increases. This composite detects these simultaneous readings and aggregates them into a score. It is a barometer of privacy demand that may reflect regulatory concerns, institutional mistrust, or simply ecosystem maturation.
How to read
Score from 0 to 100. Below 20: normal behavior, no active privacy-seeking. 20–40: growing interest. 40–60: significant demand. Above 60: active flight to privacy — likely triggered by a specific event.
Key zones
Readings above 40 have historically coincided with major regulatory announcements or surveillance events. Readings below 15 are the norm during calm market periods.
What to observe
Correlation with the regulatory calendar is the most reliable reading. KYC restriction announcements, Travel Rule or sanctions are often followed by spikes in this index within 48–72 hours. Also compare with BTC price: flight-to-privacy during a price rise may indicate discrete whale positioning.
Historical context
This index is new and exploratory. Early data shows spikes correlated with European (MiCA) and American (self-custody wallet surveillance proposals) regulatory events.
Expert notes
⚠️ Trinity Exclusive Model — The composite weights Liquid peg-ins at 35%, Tor growth at 25%, and estimated private channel variation at 40%. These weights are experimental. Private channel estimation is the least reliable component as it is based on indirect heuristics (gap between on-chain P2WSH opens and channels announced via gossip).
Common mistakes to avoid
This index does NOT measure actual network privacy — it measures privacy DEMAND. A high index does not mean the network is more private, but that participants are actively seeking more privacy. This is an important distinction.
