This chart traces pageviews of Ethereum (the incumbent), Solana (post-2021 challenger), Cardano (academic narrative), and Polkadot (interop narrative). Wikipedia is a fairer playing field than crypto media : every retail-curious user who hears 'Solana ETF' or 'Cardano staking' eventually visits Wikipedia. Tracking this 4-line race over 5+ years reveals how durable each narrative actually is.
How to read
Four lines : Ethereum (blue), Solana (purple), Polkadot (pink), Cardano (cyan). Y-axis = daily pageviews log scale. Ethereum almost always dominates absolutely, but the GAP narrows during altcoin seasons. Solana surpassed Cardano in mindshare around early 2024. Polkadot has been in steady decline since 2022.
