TSDAR — Smart vs Retail Attention RatioTRINITY EXCLUSIVE
Trinity-exclusive composite contrasting institutional and developer attention vs retail attention. Above-neutral readings indicate quiet accumulation phases ; below-neutral readings indicate distribution phases driven by retail crowd.
Trinity exclusive model
This metric is a proprietary Trinity Insights model. Its formula, inputs, weights and parameters are NOT disclosed. The page documents only the output (bounded scale, interpretation zones, historical context). Access to the score and its time series is via the REST API and the MCP server, subject to the required tier.
What is it?
TSDAR fuses two opposing forces of market attention into a single oscillator. The numerator captures patient capital — institutional regulatory disclosures and open-source builder activity (two independent smart-money layers). The denominator captures public-facing crowd attention via worldwide search interest for entry-level crypto queries. The output is calibrated on an ISM PMI-style 0-100 scale so that 50 represents balance between the two camps. Higher readings indicate quiet accumulation phases ; lower readings indicate phases where the retail crowd dominates conversation while smart-money attention fades.
How to read
Read TSDAR around the neutral 50 line. Sustained periods above 60 mark periods of structural smart-money activity that exceeds retail noise. Sustained periods below 40 mark periods where retail crowd attention dominates while institutional and developer focus contracts. The middle band 40-60 represents balanced markets where neither cohort dominates narrative attention. Overlay BTC price on the right axis to see how each regime maps to spot price moves.
Key zones
Three regime zones are rendered as colored bands. Overheated zone (60-70, red) is where smart-money attention massively exceeds retail crowd — historically rare and short-lived. Neutral zone (40-60, light yellow) is the balanced regime. Depressed zone (30-40, green) marks the inverse extreme where retail crowd dominates and smart-money interest contracts — historically aligned with cycle bottom areas. Readings beyond these bands are statistically rare given the winsorized calibration.
What to observe
Look for divergences between TSDAR and BTC price : when price rises while TSDAR sinks toward 40, retail FOMO may be carrying the rally without smart-money confirmation. When price falls while TSDAR holds above 50, institutions and builders may still be accumulating despite weak retail headlines. Watch the cycle markers : compare how TSDAR was positioned at the spot ETF approval (Jan 2024) versus around the 4th halving and subsequent recovery. Sustained readings in either coloured band warrant attention.
Historical context
TSDAR v2 is calibrated on a multi-year window where smart-money layers (institutional filings + builder activity) and retail attention (search interest basket) are simultaneously available. Cycle markers visible on the chart help anchor reading across the 2018 bear bottom, the 2020 COVID era, the 2021 top, the 2022 FTX collapse, the 2024 spot ETF approval, and the 4th halving.
Expert notes
⚠️ Trinity Exclusive Model — TSDAR fuses orthogonal narrative layers into a single oscillator calibrated against an institutional reference scale. The exact source basket curation, weight scheme, and rolling window are proprietary and are not disclosed in public documentation. Public reproduction with arbitrary substitution of equal sources will not converge to Trinity output.
Common mistakes to avoid
TSDAR is not a price predictor. It is a structural attention oscillator. A reading above 60 does not mechanically forecast that price will rise — it indicates that smart-money attention exceeds retail crowd at that moment. Price can still decline if other macro forces dominate. Likewise, a reading below 40 is not a guaranteed buy zone — it characterizes the attention regime, not the trade decision. Use TSDAR as context for narrative timing, not as a standalone entry trigger.
