Sovereign Reserves vs BTC Price
Total government Bitcoin overlaid with BTC price - a correlation no other platform shows. Key insight: Germany's 50K BTC dump in July 2024 preceded a local bottom. Government selling = additional supply, publicly disclosed and traceable.
What is it?
Overlays total sovereign Bitcoin reserves with the BTC price to reveal correlation patterns between government accumulation and market cycles.
How to read
Two lines on separate axes - left Y shows total sovereign BTC holdings (gold), right Y shows BTC price on log scale (white). Rising reserves during price dips suggest strategic accumulation (buy the dip by governments). Vertical markers annotate sovereign-impact events (Germany dump July 2024, El Salvador purchases Sep 2021, US Strategic Reserve EO March 2025).
Key zones
No threshold makes sense here, since the two curves share no unit. What reads is the gap in their direction. Reserves rising while price falls describe accumulation indifferent to the market. Reserves flat while price rises describe holding, not buying. Reserves falling while price rises describe the reverse case: a state selling into liquidity rather than against it.
What to observe
Divergences: reserves rising while price falls = accumulation. Reserves flat while price rises = holding, not buying at highs.
Historical context
El Salvador began buying BTC in September 2021 near the cycle top - a controversial strategy that has since become profitable.
Expert notes
Government buying doesn't necessarily move the market - most sovereign BTC comes from seizures, not open market purchases.
Common mistakes to avoid
Correlation doesn't imply causation. Governments don't have enough BTC to meaningfully impact Bitcoin's total market capitalization.
