MCP access by tier
The MCP scope mirrors exactly your dashboard tier. No separate MCP pricing. A dashboard upgrade propagates automatically to the MCP within 60 seconds without reconfiguration.

Dynamic tier resolution
- 1. Authentication : your API key arrives with the Authorization header.
- 2. Lookup : the MCP server retrieves the user_id associated with the key, then queries the Postgres database for the current tier.
- 3. 60s cache TTL : the tier resolution is cached for 60 seconds to optimize performance. Beyond that, automatic refresh from the DB.
- 4. Tool filtering : each tool checks whether the requested metric_id is within the authorized scope of the resolved tier. If not, explicit error with upgrade suggestion.
Consequence : if you upgrade your dashboard from Free to Pro, your MCP becomes Pro within at most 60 seconds, without key recreation.
Free MCP: strict parity with the Free dashboard
The Free MCP exposes strictly the charts of the Free dashboard - no more, no less. No additional advantage or restriction on the MCP side. If you see a chart on your Free dashboard, you have access to it via MCP. If that chart is Pro on the dashboard, it is Pro on the MCP.
This parity eliminates any confusion. Proprietary analysis features (Trinity composites, cross-rubric, advanced narrative intelligence) remain at the Pro+ tier to preserve the value of the paid offering and fund continuous development.
